As a kid from a family mired in trauma, my early art was pure escape. In color, I found mesmerizing beauty. Christmas lights, Crayola 64s and neon lights were my joy.
My love for color now lights my mixed media paintings—boldly, on big canvases.
Today, my works examine the intersection of fragility, strength and resilience.
They are conduits for healing and expressing deeply felt personal and societal concerns.
While the abstracted forms and colors offer their own beauty, the inclusion of historic and recycled objects into the mixed works offer their own deeper meanings and stories to the piece. An excavation of a piece can find inclusions of vintage and new materials, fabrics, drawings, documents and other items that deepen the story and curiosity of each work.
